The STAEDTLER digital pen 2.0 comprises a ballpoint pen and separate receiver unit and can be used for digitising your handwritten notes.
Write and sketch as usual on normal paper whilst the receiver is attached to the top of your note pad. The position and movements of the pen tip are recorded via infrared and ultrasound waves as well as complex algorithms and are converted into an image file. Up 100 pages of A4 in a resolution of 100 dpi can be captured.
The data can then be transferred to and stored on a computer using the USB cable provided. Alternatively, the new generation 2.0 enables a wireless transfer of data to Windows computers via Bluetooth®. The handwriting recognition software included – also known as OCR software – enables you to manage and sort your image file notes and facilitates retrieval of specific data via a keyword search, e.g. for forwarding by email. The STAEDTLER digital pen 2.0 keeps your notes safe, enables well-structured filing and spares you the trouble of having to scan as was necessary in the past.
What's more, handwritten notes can be easily converted into computer text via an adaptive handwriting recognition software, hence saving the bother of retyping them. The text file can then be processed and formatted as required or exported directly into a word processing programme. A training module helps improve the software's level of recognition accuracy. This is where you customise your profile specific to your handwriting style and, if desired, define that abbreviations are automatically written out in full. It involves a one-time rewriting of a two-sided sample text. The software recognises 32 languages.
When working with the STAEDTLER digital pen 2.0, you can choose between three settings:
The mobile mode enables you to capture your notes when on-the-go, away from your computer. You transfer the data to your PC for further processing later on.
In online mode, your data is displayed on your computer screen in real time. This is done by connecting your receiver directly to your PC via USB.
The mouse mode enables the STAEDTLER digital pen to be used as a computer mouse. Use of the stylus refill provided means that no marks are made on your notepad.
In addition to these functions, the new generation 2.0 can also be used with smartphones and tablet PCs. Transfer your handwritten notes or sketches via Bluetooth® to your mobile device and send your image file per email or upload it e.g. to your social network.
